DP World Southampton - Case Study
We were contacted by DP World to urgently replace an existing scaffolding structure that had become unfit for use in providing access to refrigerated shipping containers used to store bananas and other produce as they arrive through the port.
There was an incredibly small timescale to design, obtain the scaffolding materials and erect the scaffolding due to the small window before the next shipment containing thousands of items of produce that would become waste if the refrigerated containers were not up and running in time.
With the tight timescale in mind the decision was made to use the pletac metrix system after much due diligence by the team at Vision.
The system was chosen for the value it added in respect to both efficiency in erection time and being more suitable as a long-term structure. From concept to completion this project was the epitome of efficiency.
With time limitations being a major factor in the decision process, the judgement was proved to be the correct one, with the project being complete and handed over to the client a full week earlier than had previously been estimated, proving why Vision and the pletac metrix system perfectly complimented each other to complete the job safely, to and excellent standard and ahead of schedule.
Works Undertaken
Standing at 6m high and 150m long complete with supporting buttresses, with the main scaffold consisting of a foot-tie lift, two decked lifts and two intermediate structural lifts, this access gantry was erected by five operatives in only four days to allow for access to stacked shipping containers.
